Volunteering
How you can help
There are several ways that you can help Home-Start North West Kent in a voluntary capacity:
- by supporting a family as a home-visiting volunteer
- by becoming a trustee
- by helping us with fundraising
We also have a small number of opportunities to help us out at events.
Home-Start North West Kent’s (home-visiting) volunteers bring a wide variety of life skills and experience to their role to reflect families they support and they all have parenting experience. All volunteers attend a 40 hour course of preparation and are carefully checked before being placed with a family.
“I just love to see the children’s faces light up when I walk through the door and when mum says it’s about time I had a friend like you.”
The Home-Start North West Kent Board of Trustees is made up of local people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience. The main requirements of a trustee are a real interest in the family support work we undertake and a willingness to be involved and active in the running of the charity. The committee ensures correct governance and is responsible for the financial security of the organisation.
“As a family, I felt it gave me hope – for a future where I could be happy and confident and a good enough mum. As a volunteer, it gives me a chance to help others – to give back what I received.“
