There is a huge need in North West Kent for Home-Start’s unique service.  Kent’s general reputation as a lovely place to live is well deserved but parts of it contain areas of considerable deprivation and many families’ problems of illness or disability are compounded by poverty and poor housing conditions.

Core running costs of our scheme are funded  by a National Lottery Grant until 31st March 2027. Meaning any donations received can be used directly for families referred for support.

We need to raise annually

A volunteer supporting a family for
2/3 hours weekly for a month

To complete DBS safety checks on
newly recruited volunteers for 2 years

Will sponsor a volunteer for a year for weekly home
visiting support for two vulnerable families or finance a day trip for 50 families

We need your help

Home-Start North West Kent is a local charity which supports families with at least one child under the age of five. We train and prepare volunteers to visit parents in their home, supporting them through a range of difficulties. These may include social isolation, anxiety and depression, multiple births, physical illness or disability, bereavement and every day parenting challenges.

We support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children, providing them with the best possible start in life.

Your donation will enable us to support more families with young children.

Thank you

“Home-Start is a brilliant local charity that does invaluable work providing support to families when they need it the most.

I have seen the difference made to our local community.

And as Member of Parliament for Dartford  I am proud to support the charity”

Every donation, big or small, can make a difference to vulnerable local families. We’d love it if you’d raise funds for us and would love to hear your ideas. Maybe you could gain sponsorship through an activity, hold a quiz night, bungee jump or sit in a bath of beans! Either way, we can’t wait to see the photos!

Local partnerships

Home-Start North West Kent is keen to develop partnerships within the North West Kent area, to ensure a better future for local children and families. Even small donations or gifts in kind can make a huge difference to us. We are pleased to have received support from a range of organisations, trusts and businesses, to whom we are very grateful.

If you would like to work together with Home-Start North West Kent, we would love to hear from you!

Raising funds

Fundraising can be fun and rewarding! We are keen to run events throughout the year, for fundraising and also to increase awareness. By supporting these, companies and organisations have the opportunity to enjoy a positive feeling with their members, staff, customers and people across our area.

There are lots of ways you could help, including:

  • Sponsorship of an event we’re running
  • Encouraging employee or member fundraising activities
  • Choose us as your charity of the year
  • Organising an event on behalf of Home-Start North West Kent

Home-Start staff are always willing to support fundraising efforts

Gifts in kind

When companies or organisations donate gifts in kind it saves us money. It means we don’t have to buy certain items that we need, so reducing our running costs.

In kind donations can be large or small and every donation helps.

Become a Corporate Partner

If your company is looking for a good cause to support that is active in your local community, please contact the Home-Start office to discuss ways you could work alongside us to raise funds to expand our service.

Your company would benefit from becoming associated with a successful home-visiting family support charity and you could be touching the lives of your employees.

We would be happy to come and speak to you and your staff about our work and the different ways to help.
